PRODUCTION
SPI’s in house quality control system monitors each phase of engine reconditioning.
At the end of each phase ,the engine mustpass specific tests, specifically designed to guarantee product.
Quality and, therefore, reliability, before proceeding to the next phase.
SPI development move along two clearly – defined lines of direction: PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY and PROCESS TECHNOLOGY.
SPI’s highly advanced equipment assures constant, highly efficient production. Process technology is the resul of in-depth study and state-of the art solutions and each phase is entrusted to highly trained personnel. In this way, SPI proceeds along its two main lines of approach as regards production and process technology.

Disassembly and Cleaning
SPI dedicated particular care and attention to all phases ,including very high temperature ,meticulous washing of components. When it arrives, each component of the engine to be reconditioned is dissembled and, after thought cleaning, routed towards its specific destination.

Rebuilt Cylinder Heads
Specialized personnel operate using state of art , high tech machinery. The cylinder heads undergo a reconditioning process that includes disassembly, cleaning of the parts and checking of these, in particular those liable to greatest wear.

Rebuilt Cylinders Blocks
The engine block arriving at this workshop are divided according to category, followed by an attentive examination of suitability, as regards, surface plates, all engine block threads, the seats of bearings, etc. Lastly, before cataloguing according to characteristics, the engine blocks are ground and lapped to guarantee an exceptionally high level of surface finish.

Rebuilt Injection Pumps
Injection pumps are overhauled in this shop. The pumps are first of all washed and disassembled. After inspecting the material, any worn components are remplaced. The individual part of the pumps are assembled according the dimensional and calibration standards of the Original Manufactures.

Rebuilt Crankshafts
Grinding of the crankshaft, which may be necessary for various reasons, is often the most cost- effective solution. Poor lubrification with consequent burn- out of the bearings may lead, for example, to selzing of the engine. After an attentive metalloscopic examination able to detect even the most minute cracks in the material, the crankshafts are ground in the specific workshop using material inspection machinery. Even the problem of replacing a damaged crankshaft is quickly. Resolved, simply replacing this with a SPI reconditioned or new shaft.

Assembly Engines
After assembly of block complete with drive shaft, conrod and pistons already inspected previously are forwarded to this shop for completion of assembly. This includes assembly of the oil pump, the timing case, the cylinder heads, the cooling and lubrification system and the oil sump. Lastly, the engines are completed tightening the cylinder heads the tools and tolerances specified by Original Manufacturer. After adjustment of valve timing and injection pump timing , the engine is ready to be forwarded to the test room.

Engine Test
The purpose designed machinery installed in SPI’s engine test room assures that engines run continuosly for 8 hours on the test rig. The entire process is carried out under the attentive supervision experts with computer-aided monitoring of all various phases.
A SPI reconditioned engine is considered ready to run many thousands of kilometers only after it has passed this test. This phase of the overhaul is obviously a further guarantee of product quality for the customer .
